Lisa Curtis Jones

I am currently the Statutory Director for Social Services in Merthyr Tydfil. I have been in this role for 8 years, having been appointed in April 2015.

I have 31 years’ experience in statutory social services – 24 of which have been in management and senior management positions in three different Welsh local authorities.  Prior to becoming Director of Social Services the majority of my work experience has been in Children Services and I have a keen interest in Safeguarding and Children Looked After.

I am a member of ADSS Cymru.  I am the current chair of the Children and Young People Regional Board and chair of the Cwm Taf Morgannwg Safeguarding Board.

I work closely with other areas of the Council and other organisations as I feel working together builds better communities. I chair the Safeguarding Reference Group within Merthyr Tydfil Council and believe the role of Statutory Director cannot be carried out in isolation as other areas affect the work we do eg. health, housing, education, customer services, employability.

On a personal note, I am a LEA Governor at a high school, where I am also a Safeguarding Governor.
