New Chair for Cwm Taf Morgannwg Regional Partnership Board

Councillor Gebbie is currently Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Social Services and Early Help at Bridgend County Borough Council (BCBC)

As Chair of the RPB, Councillor Gebbie is responsible for ensuring members of the RPB are working together to improve the health, social care and wellbeing of people living in Bridgend, Rhondda Cynon Taf and Merthyr Tydfil.

This includes overseeing the delivery of the Cwm Taf Morgannwg Regional Area Plan (due to be published in April 2023), which outlines the actions that will be taken by RPB members to create better health and social care services. Councillor Gebbie will also ensure partners are working co-productively with communities and frontline staff to create, lead and evaluate services.

Councillor Gebbie brings a wealth of experience having held senior roles in local government, including scrutiny for health, social services, education, budgets and legislation.

She is also the spokesperson for workforce, health and social care at the Welsh Local Government Association.

With a passion for fairness and social justice, she is a Trade Union Member and previously represented public services as Deputy Convenor for UNISON Wales, and as a member of Wales TUC General Council. Councillor Gebbie is also an active member of Bridgend County Borough Council’s Equality Committee.

“I am delighted to be appointed Chair of Cwm Taf Morgannwg Regional Partnership Board. As a long-standing Trade Union member and social activist, I strongly believe in the power of unity to drive forward positive and tangible changes.

“Health and social care services are going through a seriously difficult time- affecting every single one of us in one way or another. We also know from our Population Needs Assessment that there are a number of barriers and challenges impacting people’s health and wellbeing. These cannot be solved alone.

“As Chair I pledge to ensure we are held accountable as a partnership. We know from speaking with our communities how important information and updates are, and we will be transparent about how people can get involved with our work, and the progress we are making.

“I am confident that by working with and listening to our communities we can improve services to create a healthier and happier future for our residents.”
